The cosmetology program consists of both theory and practical instruction. To meet the state requirement of 1,000 clock hours of instruction takes approximately 31 weeks for a full-time student (63 weeks for part-time), based on student attendance. For detailed information about the curriculum, please contact our Admissions office at (413) 827-0037 or send an email to admissions@digrigoli.com.
For the first 250 hours of the program, students work exclusively on mannequin heads in the Basic Room as they begin the practical portion of the curriculum. After 250 hours, students enter the Student Salon Floor and begin to service clients by providing scalp treatments, shampooing, manicures, skin care/facial grooming, finger waving, pin curling, marcelling, and haircutting. Upon completion of 400 clock hours, students begin to perform the work of hair coloring, cold/permanent waving, bleaching, hair straightening and hair styling for clients. Students nearing completion of the program participate in a “mock” State Board Exam that is structured and timed to mimic the actual licensure exam and utilizes the skills and procedures that students will be required to demonstrate.
For Esthetics At DiGrigoli School, our 600 hour program is a combination of coursework and practical training, and covers topics such as skin analysis, facials, hair removal, makeup application, business fundamentals, and more! We also provide a carefully curated kit which includes high quality makeup and top-of-the-line Bio-Theraputic equipment and tools. Additionally, DiGrigoli School is partnered with the International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica, and our kit includes Dermalogica Backbar products – the top brand in our industry!
Our climate-controlled facility is fully equipped with student work stations, shampoo sinks, portable dryers, back bar, dispensary, laundry room, esthetics room, manicure stations and a private skin care area. There is a training/theory classroom complete with video monitor, digital projector, sound system, and mirrored demonstration stage. We also have a resource library of text and DVD materials available for students to borrow. Our facility was planned with students in mind, so that they can learn the art and science of cosmetology & esthetics in a clean, modern, aesthetic and safe environment that mirrors that of a professional salon. There is also free on-site parking.
